Wolfson sources photographic texture maps from 3D modeling software, reinterpreting them with a focus on the hand and process of painting as a means to counteract digital benign neglect. Each painting eventually returns to the software to replace the original texture maps, allowing her own illustrative marks to coalesce over these 3D objects.

This work manifests as a still life that is both physically and digitally rendered. As these texture maps contain photographic information for all possible perspectives of the 3D scene, Wolfson's appropriation of them implies that every potential viewpoint has been painted. The auratic labor of painting becomes an act of observance and intervention.

R. Wolfson was born in Clearwater, Florida and received her degree from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She researches culture, technology, and medical science - often making work about how these fields intersect and influence one another. In her art practice, she blends traditional painting with new digital media.
